The field is actually drier with more dead grass than last week. Unfortunately, we need to cancel again. If conditions improve, we will try to hold additional launches in September and October, so our members still have plenty of chances to get their rockets in the air this year.
The University of Nebraska drought monitoring website said that RI was in a severe drought (level D2) last week, but it now says that we are in an extreme drought (level D3), which is comparable to much of California, Nevada, and Utah. (Here’s the drought map for the whole country–Texas looks really bad.)
Let’s hope SLS has better luck than we do this month.
