The weather looks great for this Saturday (7/14), so let’s fly some rockets! All of the usual launch protocols apply. We will set up at 9:00 am and start launching a little after 9:30. If you help with setup, you will be able to carpool from the parking area to the launch site. The University limits the use of cars on the field, so if you come late, you will need to carry your stuff in. (We can always assist handicapped fliers and visitors.)
Let’s Launch! This Saturday July 14th
5…4…3…2…1…RIMRA launch on Saturday 6/9!
RIMRA will be launching from the field at Peckham Farm this weekend! Set up at 9:00; first flight sometime between 9:30 and 10:00.
Please read the launch protocol and adhere to the field rules (e.g. park before the gate; keep all equipment on the road.)
See you there!
Bonus Launch this Weekend!!!!
Good launch days have been hard to come by this year, but the weather this weekend looks promising. So for those of us who aren’t able to attend the National Sport Launch, let’s have some fun here at home.
The launch will be a little smaller than usual, so we won’t run the grill. Same rules as usual:
- No cars beyond the gate.
- Keep all gear on the road.
- Only foot traffic on the fields.
If anyone is in need of special assistance, we can run a shuttle to get to the launch site from the parking lot. Set-up at 9:00. First launch ~9:30.
Be sure to check out the ISS tonight. If you’re lucky you’ll see it being chased by the Antares rocket which is carrying a “cubesat” that was designed and built by students at Brown University.
RIMRA Saturday April 14th, 2018 Launch is a NO-GO due to weather.
Due to Sunday being Mothers Day that is not an optional Rain date. We are looking to rescheule a launch before the next scheduled launch in June.

Great April Launch
We had a great April Launch next launch is May 13th see you all there.
Great news! RIMRA has brought a trailer to store and carry all the launch equipment to the site. No more having to store equipment at multiple locations and transport in various cars etc.
This was paid for with Membership and Launch fees and donations from certain individuals, Thank-you for your support.

Keep Building!!!
The bad news: Mother nature is still not cooperating. The field is far too muddy for a launch.
The good news: Maybe I’ll actually find the time to paint some rockets before they fly.
So in the mean time…..tell us what you are working on. Post a picture and a description of your current project to our Facebook page. I’ll re-post the highlights to this thread.
Brenton – I’m currently trying my hand at reinforcing fins on my fiberglass Der Red Max with carbon fiber. (Of course, I’m doing this on the dining room table.) The first layer looked terrible, but the second layer is going on much better. Two of my kids are working on a Madcow DX3 and a Madcow Momba. They both say their goal for the year is to fly their first G-motor.
Paul – Here’s a few pics of Paul’s Bomarc. Can you guess what he used to create the exit nozzles on the motors?
Great article on our Model Rocket Club,
Launching the next generation into STEAM education. The unique ones. The ones whose rare brains operate at a slightly different level. Whose minds are filled with equations, calculations, visual imagery and technicalities. You’ve met them. They’re our engineers, our artists, our mathematicians.
The mission of RIMRA is to provide a safe venue for launching amateur rockets and bring together people of all ages interested in amateur rocketry – whether they are new to the hobby or long time enthusiast. RIMRA promotes amateur rocketry as a tool for teaching engineering, mathematics & the physical sciences. http://southcountylifemagazine.ri.newsmemory.com
This Saturday’s (March 10th) launch is a no-go.
Due to the recent and ongoing weather, we are having here in New England the Launch Field is not fit for man nor beast or rockets due to mud. This Saturdays (10th) launch is a no-go. We are looking to see if we can launch the following week as some of us are chomping at the bit to fly.
Some of us remember the first RIMRA launch in which the CATO trailer became stuck in mud and our first launch turned into a vehicle rescue mission. There’re some photos floating around with Ray up to his knees in mud out there.
