Due to the recent and ongoing weather, we are having here in New England the Launch Field is not fit for man nor beast or rockets due to mud. This Saturdays (10th) launch is a no-go. We are looking to see if we can launch the following week as some of us are chomping at the bit to fly.

Some of us remember the first RIMRA launch in which the CATO trailer became stuck in mud and our first launch turned into a vehicle rescue mission. There’re some photos floating around with Ray up to his knees in mud out there.

Starman can not make RIMRA’s next launch but you can.

Next launch is Saturday, March 10th starting 9 AM and ending around 2 PM. Participants are encouraged to help set up the equipment and pads so we can begin on time.

Notice: Vehicles are not allowed on the field, please park at the farm and walk-in. We have carts available to bring equipment to the pads.

Club Meeting – 11:00 AM Saturday February 24th – All Welcome

Beaupre Chemistry Building at 11:00. I’m attaching a campus map. Just follow the blue arrows to get to the parking lot. The address is 140 Flagg Road, Kingston, RI; but you will turn off Flagg Rd onto Butterfield Rd and then onto W. Alumni Ave to get to the parking lot and the door on the 1st floor.

We have canceled this Saturday RIMRA launch.

We are looking to schedule club meeting Saturday February 24th. If you would like to attend please email rocket@rimra.org. The meeting will be located near the launch site TBD.

Weather Launch Protocol: Go-no Criteria

1st Call made Thursday at 6 PM EST
2nd and Final Call Friday at 6 Pm EST
Criteria based on forecast between 9 am and 2 pm EST on launch day
No go if one of the following criteria is predicted any time times between 9 am and 2 pm EST on launch day
Temperature below 32° or below 20° with wind chill
Chance of rain is greater than 50%
Wind greater than 15 MPH or gust greater than 25 MPH

All;

We have been watching the weather although Saturday looks bad the first half of the day looks good. So our decision at this point is to go for a launch but cut off b/t 12 and 1 and head out for a burgers at local establishment.
