So much for the improving forecast. Due to the rain and the mud, we are scrubbing the launch this weekend. Check back to see if we can find a way to launch sometime over the next two weeks.
New impulse record for Peckham Farm and launch announcement
Congratulations to Mike Jordan (and Rowan) for a successful Level 2 certification flight and for flying the largest motor ever at Peckham Farm, a CTI K454 skidmark! Come fly with us this weekend to see more awesome flights like this!
The forecast keeps improving, so we are gong to try to launch this Saturday, 11/13. As usual, we will get started at 9:00 and launch until we run out of motors. Just bring a rocket, and we will provide all of the launch equipment. Esther’s engines will be onsite if you need to buy motors. Please check back in case the forecast changes or the field doesn’t dry enough after the predicted rain on Friday.
Saturday, 10/16 launch
We are go for launch on Saturday. The weather may worsen as the day goes, so we will get started at 9:00 and launch until we run out of motors. Just bring a rocket, and we will provide all of the launch equipment. Esther’s engines will be onsite if you need to buy motors.
The main event will hopefully be Mike’s Level II certification flight with a 5.5″ diameter LOC Nike Zeus. It will be the first K motor flown at Peckham Farm!
If you haven’t been to a RIMRA launch yet, be prepared to park your vehicle at the farm and walk with your rockets to the center of the field. Spectators are always welcome.
Launch this Sunday
Sunday launch! We will launch from Peckham Farm on Sunday, 9/12. Set-up will begin at 9:00 am, and we will launch until ~2:00 pm. Please see prior posts or our Facebook page for launch protocols. (Sorry about the late notice. There have been lots of things in motion this week.)
Sunday Launch!
We will meet at Peckham Farm to set up at 9:00 on 8/15, and we will launch until we run out of rocket motors.
Just bring a rocket, and we will provide all of the launch equipment. Esther’s engines will be onsite if you need to buy motors.
If you haven’t been to a RIMRA launch yet, be prepared to park your vehicle at the farm and walk with your rockets to the center of the field. Spectators are always welcome.
We can’t catch a break!
The weather still isn’t cooperating. We are going to cancel this weekend’s launch. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to launch again until our regularly scheduled launch on August 14. So now you don’t have an excuse to not finish that rocket on your bench/kitchen table! Let’s see some impressive new builds next month!
Launch Postponed
This month’s launch, which was originally scheduled for 7/10, is going to be postponed due to weather. We are hoping to launch again on Sunday, 7/18. Keep checking our facebook page or www.rimra.org for more updates.
July 10 Launch
RIMRA will launch again at 9:00 am on Saturday, July 10 at Peckham Farm. All rockets flying below 3000 ft on anything from A to K motors are welcome.
Please check the launch protocols on this page for details. We will begin setting up at 9:00 and will start launching shortly thereafter, and we usually keep launching until early afternoon. Esther’s Engines will be at the launch to make sure we don’t run out of propellant. She currently has stock of Quest and Aerotech single-use A-I motors.
Spectators, students, and families are always welcome.
Postponed until Sunday, 6/13
The RIMRA launch will be postponed for one day due to rain in the forecast. See you Sunday at 9:00. In the mean time, check out the awesome pics of NASA’s SLS being assembled right now at the Kennedy Space Center. FYI: Estes sells a SLS starter kit, and we’d be happy to launch it anytime at a RIMRA launch.
Launch this weekend
RIMRA is planning to launch this Saturday, June 12, at Peckham Farm on Saturday. We will start around 9:00, and we will launch until we are out of rocket motors.
Esther’s engines will be onsite to help you burn money (though her inventory is running a low due to high demand this year). If you haven’t been to a RIMRA launch yet, be prepared to park your vehicle at the farm and walk with your rockets to the center of the field.
Check the www.rimra.org for additional details about the launch procedure. Feel free to reply to this post or inbox us with any questions.
