Launch this Saturday! Setup at 9:00. First launch around 9:30. It looks like the weather will be great, so come ready to go!

Updates for July 20 launch
Due to the anticipated heat wave that is coming this weekend, we are making three important changes to the July 20 launch.
- Launch window: 9:00 am to 11:30 am. Set-up will begin ~8:00 am.
- Low-power and mid-power rockets only. No rockets over 3.3 lbs (including the motor) and the largest allowable motor will be a G80.
- Following the launch, RIMRA will host a pizza lunch at Tony’s for all flyers who paid a launch fee.
We are GO for launch!
RIMRA will be launching at URI’s Peckham farm on Saturday, July 20. Set-up will begin at 9:00 and the first flight will be around 10:00 am. We will launch everything from 2″ Micro Maxx rockets to 7′ high power rockets, and everything in-between. You provide the rockets and motors and we provide the launch equipment. Adult fliers, kid fliers, families, students, and spectators are always welcome.
Please check the launch protocols above for more details–and bring plenty of water and sunscreen. Ez-ups are also a good idea. It’s going to be hotter in Kingston than in Cape Canaveral this weekend.
It may be a little late to start building a Saturn V in honor of the Apollo 11 anniversary, but if you really want to launch one, check out the Estes Ready-to-Fly Saturn V. You will probably have to pay for expedited shipping at this point, but it might be worth it!
Upcoming Events in July
Lots of cool events are coming up to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 lunar landing.
July 8 – opening of the Museum of the Moon exhibit in downtown Providence: https://artscenter.waterfire.org/…/…/the-museum-of-the-moon/
July 20 – RIMRA launch at Peckham Farm – Low, Mid, and High power rockets will be launched. Anyone interested in building and launching rockets is encouraged to participate, and spectators are always welcome. See the links above for directions and instructions on how you can launch with us.
July 20 – Apollo 11 WaterFire in downtown Providence, sponsored by the NASA Space Grant and featuring an exhibit by RIMRA: waterfire.org
Launch this Saturday, June 8

Tentative Summer Launch Schedule
Pencil these dates into your calendar:
- June 8
- July 20 (50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing!)
- August 10
We are hoping to launch at URI’s Peckham Farm (our usual site) on these dates. Check back for updates.
RIMRA launch this weekend!
RIMRA will launch from Peckham Farm at URI (our usual launch site) on Saturday, May 11. Set up will begin at 9:00 am, and if you help with setup, you will be able to carpool from the parking area to the launch site.
Typical launch etiquette applies….park before the gate and carry your stuff in. It may be muddy, so be prepared.
Patience…
(Sorry I posted this to Facebook several days ago, but forgot to post here.)
Unfortunately, there won’t be an April RIMRA launch. We are still working on a new launch site. We are particularly hopeful about one particular site, but it hasn’t materialized quick enough for a launch this month.
If you really need a rocket fix, please visit the great rocketry clubs in Connecticut to Massachusetts.

UPDATE:
The RIMRA meeting for tomorrow (3/9/19) has been moved from 9:30 AM to 8:30 AM. Due to the time change, Allies doughnuts and coffee will be provided.
Feel free to bring “show-and-tell” items so we can see what you have been building over the winter!
